I have been breeding mini Australian shepherds for about 20 years. Our dogs are our family. All of my dogs are registered with the American Stock Dog Registry (ASDR). This is the same exact breed as what the AKC has now determined to be the mini American shepherd. There is no difference in the dog. AKC just came into the popularity of the breed late in 2015. As of 2023, we no longer dock tails of our mini Aussies. There is a waiting list for future litters where future families can be contacted when a litter is born.

Judy is a breeder who fell in love with the breed with her first two mini Aussies: Charger and Rowan. After that, she and her family wanted to share their love of the breed with the world. Adult dogs are genetically tested and found to be all clear. All puppies are vet checked from days old until ready to go to their "forever" homes. Shots and screenings are given at the appropriate age of the puppy.
The Checkered flag Champions moniker came from the family's interest in racing that began in local and national quarter midget racing, Allison Legacy cars and most recently, the Northeast Wingless Sprint cars.
